There are several steps in the licencing process - each step must be completed successfully before advancing to the next step.

Learner Licence
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Require evidence of identity
- Must be medically fit to drive
- Must have a good knowledge of the road rules
- Must pass the written road rules test

Driving Instruction
- Record 100 hours of accumulated on-road driving
- experience in your logbook
- When driving you must display L-plates front and rear
- Must obey the No alcohol limit
- Must only drive while supervised

|
P1 Licence
- Must have held Learner Licence for at least 12 months
- Must pass your practical driving test
- When driving you must display red P-plates
- Must obey the No alcohol limit
|
|
|
P2 Licence
- Must have held P1 Licence for at least 12 months
- Must pass your hazard perception test
- When driving you must display green P-plates
- Must obey the No alcohol limit
|
|
|
Open Licence
- Must have held P2 Licence for at least 12 months or
- 2 years if under 25 when P1 licence issued
